This piece called Odysseus is inspired by the many mythologies depicting dogs as psychopomps, or guides to the souls. In some stories, the dogs ferry souls on their back across dangerous rivers.
This piece is made of recycled clay. It has teardrop and wave details carved into the clay. The glaze finish appears metallic in some places, between black and a dark blue-gray color.
Two dog figures hold in their mouths thrifted beads that appear to be Black Lip teardrop beads with a luster that flashes subtle peacock green, violet, and silvery-pink overtone when they catch the light.
Size: 7.5in tall x 8.5in wide.
